Hi all,

I know most of u are live plant people, but i want to plant up my cray tank. Gotta be fake plants unless theres a real plant out there that he won't eat.

Any suggestions on make or materials that look as natural as possible. Don't really want them looking obviously fake and cheap!

the answer to which is the dream of many a Cray keeper! I've found it's a case of buying something and giving it a try, to be fair that's not been that successful anyway! the search continues!

What about aunubias? Fix it to a rock or piece of wood. Perhaps also Java Fern (once again attached to hardscape)?

I believe there are some plants that have bad tastes to them so after he tries them once he may not try it again or if he's just digging them up i don't know

try weighting the plant with part of a coconut shell, i've got this with live plants in my tank and as yet the plecs haven't figured how to unanchor the shell from the gravel :) it's about a 10cm disk from the bottom of a coconut i prepared myself, with the plants through drilled holes, keeping the roots securely protected underneath, hope this helps.

sounds like a good idea, though Crays have a habit of burrowing, so it may not be long before they work it out.

Got some swords and anubias attached to bog wood in my main tank could pop them in there see if he has a munch on them. Trail and error could start getting expensive!!!

And once he's finished eating the plants he'll prob start on the bog wood. Savage.

Maybe something floating would be the answer. Stops him digging it up.
