Hi,

Earlier today I had some friends visiting today and they have 2 kids, obviously they wanted to see the fish and shrimps I have in my main tank.

Children being children, tapped on the tank glass AFTER I told them not to tap the glass...grr.

After friends and kids have left, noticed a dead RCS, that seemed to just have keeled over and lying dead on a plant leaf.

Its a female RCS and had a lovely red colouration, one of my first shrimps I put in the tank

Is it possible that tapping on glass could result in a RCS dying of shock?

Could be down to age possibly, I got her from LFS as an adult.
Is there a way of telling how old shrimps are? do they turn colours or anything?

Also, all the other RCS are behaving normally and doing their own things as usual.

Just would like to know if tapping on glass has affects like this or any tips I can learn from this.

Tapping on the glass shouldn't kill shrimp, but it would definantly annoy and scare  them just like it does fish.

The only way I know of approximating a shrimps age (particularly with cherry shrimp) is their size, a fully grown mature female will be close to 4cm in size and they tend to get darker as well as not breeding as well or as frequently as younger females.
