Hi there, a couple of days ago i posted a thread in the betta section of the forum after my betta suddenly died shortly followed by a panda cory the next day and a peppered the day after that.
This morning i got up and my dark orange molly has died after swimming around happily only the day before...
I shall start from the beginning...
A month or so ago i got some guppys for my 50gal which at the time only had a 5inch plec and 4 albino corys. During the fortnight that followed i lost 3 of the females i bought which were all very pregnant(would have got ones that wern't but its nearly impossible to find f.guppys that aern't pregnant at my lfs).
In all the cases the deaths were very sudden, the fish having showed no symtoms or strange behavior at all...I ended up treating the tank with some anti bacterial medication and for the last fortnight havn't had anymore guppy deaths so i thought i had solved the problem, whatever it was...
4 days ago my f.betta who had eggs in her died out of the blue followed by a panda cory the next day and a peppered the day after that. This morning one of my f.mollys died, having owned her for about 6months...

Water stats are ammonia=0, nitrate=2, nitrite=1; i have been doing lots of water changes in hope to rid the fish of whatever they have got and i treated the tank with some anti internal bacterial med in hope it would solve the problem.
This is the biggest amount fish losses i have had since whitespot 4months ago and i can't seem to find whats wrong with my fish; the only thing they seem to have in common is they were all heavily pregnant(apart from the corys of course)- are there any deseases that affect pregnant/female fish only??
Other than all this nothing is out of the ordinary; none of the fish are harrassing each other and the genders are pretty matched out with at least 1male to 2females ofr all my livebearers. The tank which all this is happening in is a 3ft tank which has various corys, platy, mollys, khuli loaches and a 7inch plec- the tank has been set up for 8months now and i have been keeping fish for 2yrs now and have never experienced like this.
Im begging for your help and any suggestions/info/advice is greatly appreciated as i am getting realy worried as there seems to be no way to tell the sick fish from the healthy ones and i am getting realy paraniod about losing my favorite fish.....
Please help me....!

I have just noticed my m.black molly has kind of white-ish poo...could this be an indication of internal parasites...?

Your water parameters seem fine so I'm thinking this must be a bacterial infection of some kind. Tricky one but i think i would treat the tank with anti-internal bacteria treatment (i have had success with the Interpet brand of this treatment) and keep up regular water changes. It sounds like there are no external symptoms so that only leaves an internal problem.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thankyou for the advice, is there anyway to tell wether a fish has internal parasites or internal bacteria or are they the same thing?

I have always treated them as the same thing and have had success with the Interpet treatment in similar circumstances.

Thanks for the info, i have just treated the tank with "anti internal bacteria" med by interpet, i shall keep you updated and see what happens(fingers crossed  ).

Try the anti internal bacteria med like has been mentioned, the long stringy white poo might be due to the bacteria infection so just see if her poo returns back to normal, good luck.

Yeah, good luck and let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hear that. :rip: little cory. Hopefully the med will kick in and avoid any further deaths. Good luck

How long should i expect for the med to take effect on the fish? it has been in the tank for a couple of days now; i have lost 5fish in total to this internal bacteria... Is there anything else i can do to help the fish?

If the meds going to work, it should have kicked in by now. It could be the cory was already too far gone and hopefully the med is doing its job. Were their any symptoms displayed by the cory at all before it died?

Not that i know of; i have been keeping a close eye on all the fish and they all seem to be going about buisness as usual- in the main tank there are 4 peppered corys and 5 panda ones(although 1 peppered and 2 pandas have now died) so maybe one just missed my attention. The only thing i can think of is that the fish seem a bit "quiet" but that could be the medicine...

Yeah adding meds to the tank can do that. Increase the O2 levels if you can by adding an airstone or turning up the filter flow, this will also help.
