Does anyone else have trouble with theĀ suctionĀ cups on their glass thermometers? Mine tend do lose suction after a few months. Any tips?

if they are staring to become hard (ha) then boil then until they are soft again then let cool in water and it should be find for another go... if they are just not sticking then you boil them and then shape them into a more dome shape let cool and it should stay having more suction.
Ā
but before adding into tank make sure they are completely cool :)
Ā
or buy new ones if you cant be bothered... :D

Thanks for that, will give it a try later on.Ā

Yes, I found my heater was forever left dangling and the thermometer floating - I think the fish contributed to a bit of nudging!
Since setting up my new tank, I got a new thermometer which seems good so far and sleeves for the heaters, which I got because they're black and disguise the heaters a bit and so no one could get burnt squeezing past or behind the heater, but their suction cups hold tight - really good!

Tried hot water on the cups but no good. They softened up and I manipulated them a little but still no suction. Will have to buy some new cups of evil bay!
