Now this guy is a wee bit sensitive, he curls the end of one of his fins when he gets annoyed, and this can be to do with anything inside and outside his tank. This time My guess is I changed his filter at the weekend, same media different filter. I did this during the water change, he was already a bit listless then and I think this tipped him over the edge. So I did another change yeterday and swapped the filter back again. And today after another water change he is like this. I havnt fed him since sunday. He normally gets exited as I prepare the feed for my marine tanks, which I do in front of his tank, as he often gets a brine shrimp or something. He aint doing it no more and its killing me (hopefully not him);
My guess tank crash. Its happened before and I lost another male like it but it was much more sudden.
Reassurance please.

Have you done any tests?  What are the water parameters?

ill let you know later today, should be fairly nomal after 3 days of water changes, but well see.

water stats are fine but he's dead. Sometimes a pre-emptive strike with meds can fix a situation, still cant say I didnt try with this one. He was always hard work from day 1 but a good looking fish is worth the effort. In all honesty I can say my bettas are harder work than both my marine tanks, but imo they are my favourite (dont tell my wife she's the salty one)

How long had you had him and over what time frame did the above happen with him?
Can you tell us more about his living quarters e.g, temperature/heater, how long was the filter in use prior to adding him etc?
Looks like he had plenty of live plants to swim in.

from start to finish it took 3 days, he died whilst i was at work.
tank has been running 2 years as has the filter, it just started to dribble out the spray bar and make an annoying noise so i changed it. He
was about 9 months old so should be pretty healthy. Tank is 45ltr heated to 26c. He was line bred and dripped in I am guessing he had a parasite, but I will never no as he was consigned to neptune when I got back.( Man it seems such a cold way to see off your buddy)
I will get lfs to do super test on water today to see if I missed anything.
