First a thank you to oldman47 for his endless help & inspiration, you're Molly piccies & your advice on my threads have been such a help, thank you
I've kept my livebearers for a while now, a mix of Mollies, guppies & a few swords, they breed well & each spawn I end up with a couple of healthy babies. But inspired by the piccies of the lovely Molly with all her babies I decided I wanted to try to have a successful, complete birth with one of my females, i've tried the breeding traps, but they are so small, the mums always seem really stressed, so I gave up on them.
I have a few spare small tanks, so I set one up as a nursery tank, first try didnt end well & my sword gave birth to dead fry. After the advice from oldman47, last week I moved over a pretty guppy female who had about a week left. Here she is last night
Some of the fry this morning, who are very difficult to get piccies of! They seem a really good size & are all swimming around well.
So far I have counted around 25, but she's still going & looks pretty big.
I've been inspired
& once one of my fry tanks is empty I am going to have a try at breeding a selected pair, either by buying a pair from a trusted breeder, or buying some fry from breeders & doing a little selective breeding, not sure yet, I know we have some beautiful quality show guppies in the UK, which I will look into.
I know I have seen a good site somewhere with info on guppy breeding, I will go search it out.
