All,

I have just purchased some Eco Complete (4 x 9kg bags).

However I know I'm going to need more to achieve a depth of approx. 3" so was wondering if I can layer....

I want a nice dark substrate. So not really wanting to use a lighter one under as risk mixing..

Could I use ADA Aquasoil II Amazonia underneath the ECO ?

How does the colour between ADA and Eco differ could they be mixed?

What other substrates could be used under the Eco, and should I use a gravel seporator ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Get all Eco.

But if you are to get Aqusoil too I would perfer putting it on top of the eco so the stuff in the Aquasoil can leech out into the water column.

I've gone for Tropica Aquacare substrate on the lower, using a gravel tidy mesh to separate, then the Eco on top..

I thought the idea was to put the aquasoil on the bottom to STOP the nutrients leeching out into the water column, so as to provide a longer supply of nutrients for the plants and not the algae !!

The layer on the top won't do a whole lot of stopping either way, so I'd go with whatever looks best and clouds the water less.
