Hi all!!
I'm planing on having a heavily planted dwarf puffer tank. Possibly a 20Gal with 4 dwarfs.
If I'm going to use sand and Fluorite as my substrate, wouldn't the finer sand particles eventually go into the Fluorite? How do I stop this?
Also, if I'm going to use Eco-complete, do I have to add fertilizer?
Will Fluorite or Eco-complete worn off after some time?

You're right about the sand and the flourite. The finer sand will eventually filter down and it really doesn't take too long. Just the regular vibrations of the house will help it settle. To the best of my knowledge there really isn't any way to prevent it. As for the Eco Complete, you may have to add some ferts depending on the needs of your plants. I have it in my 75 gallon and for basic stem plants like anacharis, amazon swords, hygrophilia, vallis etc., it is fine. My anubias nana and java ferns grow great too without any ferts.

Pitty there's no way to stop sand from going into Fluorite. I still couldn't figure out whether I'm going to use sand + Fluorite or Eco-Complete.
hm...
Thanx for the info :good:

Personally, I like the look af the black substate. It really brings out the color in fish.
