I am thinking of using Flourite on the bottom of the tank, with white play sand from Home Depot covering it and making up the foreground. In other words, thicker on the flourite towards the back, with the white sand taking up all of the front of the tank. This is to be a discus tank, so I am going to plant the back heavily and do what I can in the front, leaving a bare area to highlight the discus. What do you think are my foreground options, which is really midground in this tankl I guess? The tank is a 92 gallon corner, which will have about 90 watts of T8 lighting. I don't want to use CO2. I am thinking of going with swords, onions, anubias, crypts, apotogens, etc. But, I really want to do somethign with hairgrass this time, especially if I use two big rock structures instead of driftwood. Will this work in sand, under this lighting an no added CO2??? I'd appreciate any advice as to where to go with this tank. I am going to have to purchase an RO unit...trying to limit other costs. I ripped the Juwel fitrationsystem out because it was a piece of dung.

hairgrass appreciates a nutrient rich substrate, and it is suggested that you have 1.5wpg of lighting, if you provide lots of nutrients it may grow - how tall is the tank?
