ok i have never used styrofoam to help keep the bubble nest up when breeding. im a little confused on where and when it should be placed in the tank and should it just be taped there?

usually it will go in the corner facing back towards the other side of the tank and just get 1 strip of tape and put it on the end of the cup and the side of the tank (not too tightly taped in case u lose water to evaporation just tape it loosely and give it 1 - 2 cm room to move if necessary)

So you can float a styrfoam cup sideways on top of the water and tape it there, so it stays floating? And this works?

All you need to do is get hold of a styrofoam cup like what you get mushy peas in at the chip shop ( if you live in uk)

cut the cup in half length ways and just place it on the surface mine stays where it is. unless you have a filter that could cause the cup to move

Dan

i have a pic some where ill dig it out.

yeah sorry i assumed you knew it had to be cut in half lol...

shouldnt be using a filter unless its got the minutest of current whilst breeding...

its not ESSENTIAL to have a styrofoam cup during breeding but it does offer the nest a bit of protection and most bettas will make a nest under it so it doesnt hurt

im getting IAL soon! im anxious to see how happy my bettas get, if at all
