Not in the main tank but in a separate tank. I'd like to study those things but have no idea where to get them.

Go and get yourself a few buckets of water from your local river or pond; you'll get all sorts of fascinating creatures. I can't guarantee you'll get hydra, but the odds are pretty good :)

Thanks, I've also read that you can get it by accident when putting plants in the tank but lol picking hydras from the main tank would probably take ages. It's safer to raise hydras separately as the fish might snack on them.

Though the local pond is pretty polluted, I haven't seen anything but catfish living in it lately. It used to have all kinds of fish including carps but some people thought it would be funny to throw trash in the holes of the shore where the fry, turtles, frogs and other creatures would gather. -_-

You could just leave a bucket of water outside for a few months; these sorts of creatures often turn up from airborn larvae or on bird's feet and the like.

My first hydra was in a jar of water that we kept outside in the yard :)

o_O hmm, maybe their spores could travel like that but what are the chances in a polluted city to get such creatures?
I used to keep a pair of pond snails in a water bottle outside long ago. It's been months and the only thing that appeared there were green algae. Unless the snails have been chowing on the creatures.
