ok, im finally getting around to taking it out of my tank. all the stuffs out the middle but i cant seem to get the stanley knife down the back to cut through the gluey sticky bit its impossible, but i need to get it off! any suggestions?
hmm, thanks. ive read that before i think. it was just ideas for something else to use really. but i seem to be going alright with a wall stipper lol. thanks for the link.
ah god!! i was sooo careful trying to do this cause i know what could happen with glass. but it happened anyways
emergency rescue fish has started. luckily there was other people in the house, but theres water everywhere i cant believe it. stupid stupid filter. i just want to cry
i wasnt even trying to pry the filter or anything. i was doing a sawing motion, and the glass has broken somewhere. cant see where. i wish i hadnt even bothered buying the new tank. cause now, as it is, theyre all going back in their old tank when thats sorted. for now, a temp smaller tank. ARGH!
I think you may have inadvertently sawn through the silicon seal holding your tank together when you were trying to saw through the silicon holding the filter in place! I wouldn't have thought that you've cracked the glass ... you'd have to put on hell of a lot of force into cracking the glass IMO & you'd certainly know if you'd have done this.
If this is the case, then it is perfectly repairable.
thanks for being reassuring. my dads going to take the tank off the stand and look for the problem. Hes had a few ideas of how to fix the glass if it was broken. very handy to have around my dad is
If it is indeed the seal, it may be quite hard to spot (a bit like trying to find a puncture in an inner tube). If it is the case, then any LFS should be able to fix it for you.
My money is on you having accidsentally penetrated the tank seal at the back of the tank on the vertical strip of silicon sealant on the right.....
I hate those filters, I was looking at a new tank not too long ago, but i decided on a fluval model because it dosent have an annoying filter fixed inside. I hope u get your tank fixed, I know I would cry if mine broke.
well, the bottom pane has a crack all the way along it. all my fish are fine and safe, just not very happy in a smaller tank. dad is going to get some new glass and fix it for me.
i just wanted to restart friday all over again. it was one of those days and that just topped it off
