Strips Or Liquids

I want to get a reasonably comprehensive test kit for my tropicals, without breaking the bank! I currently only test for Ph and Nitrite.
I also want to be able to check Ammonia, Kh (Ours is known to be low; about 1 usually) and I guess Nitrate&Nitrite?
Am I better with the Test Strips or the bottles?

Any suggestions please, and should I be checking for anything else?

key things to check for are pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate

liquid tests are more reliable.

i like the API Fresh Water Master Test Kit.
