Hi, My Cichlid Goby ( Eretmodus cyanostictus) has been missing for a few days but has now reappeared. I can see now when it hides but I thought I'd lost him/her. Anyway, yesterday when he came out of hiding he was not interested in food at all. Today he is out and I saw him take a bit of Prima but his dorsal fin is down and I am sure I saw stringy white poo. It was kind of like translucent cotton with a tiny white lump like a gain of salt a couple of mm apart.

Not good at troubles as I don't get them too often so.........help!

Here's the info

Tank size: Rio 125ltr.
pH: 8.0
ammonia: 0. ppm
nitrite: 0.ppm
nitrate:
20ppm

tank temp:
78*

Fish Symptoms sitting on the bottom (as they do anyway) but not moving about much. dorsal fin down. swims away in reaction to my movement.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 15-20% every 4 days

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: shells to raise ph.

Tank inhabitants: Other Tanganyikan Chilids (as in profile)

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): none in the last few weeks

Exposure to chemicals: none except dechloriator (Prime)

Do you mean there grain of salt like lumps in the poo.
Does the fish look bloated or thin.
Check the anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.
What do you feed the fish.

What do you feed the fish Prima, Hikari Cichlid Gold, Spirulina Algae Flakes, Brine Shrimp (frozen), Cucumber. Obviously not all at once

Tranlucent poo is abit of a worry as that is a sign of internal parasites.
Long stringy white poo can be constipation, bacterial to internal parasites.
How long has he not been eating.
Its hard to say try to peas if he's not eating.

I think I would try worming your fish as it's best to worm fish anyway.
Do you know what type of internal parasites your fish are prone too,.
