Does the second Pygmy Cory look like it is stressed out, because it's 2 or 3 of my Pygmys look like the first and the rest look like the second. do you think that they are just stressed out or is it just natural coloring. Could the first be male and the second be a female. Or the other way around

Okay, I don't know what it could be though. I don't se how some can be stressed and some cant

Hmmmmm. Just went to look at my tank and it looks like they are coloring up now, I guess that I usually see them like that when I first turn the light on, just solved my own problem. It was the light they loss their color during the night

Oh right lol yes that is definatly the cause. Most of my fish loose some of their colour at night.

That happens with my cory as well. They all color up nicely when the light comes on! Conversely, my black skirt tetras lose their nice black color when the light comes on.

Hmm, perhaps they are nocturnal fish. Or they loose there color naturally because in the wild they would be easier to see when they are that shade of black so they loose their color so they will not be as noticeable

I keep wondering what would happen with them if I changed the substrate to black sand.

Fish change their colour to suit their surroundings, if they have the capability. My Pandas are the same, albeit not as noticeable. But you can see the difference between a dark green/brown rubbernose plec when i turn the light on, and a sandy colour when its been on a while

That happens to my Neons every night. They get their color back pretty quickly when I turn the lights on.........
