Stress?

I transferred my Brichardi Cichlid which was in a well established 10g tank to my newly cycled 30g tank. The fish seems like it might just be stressed and getting used to it's new surroundings, but it is staying on the bottom of the tank under a leaf from one of my plants. I'm not quite sure if it is, in fact, stress or something else.

Water parameters:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
pH: 6.8-7.0

What test kit are you using to get those numbers?

Why do you say the 30G is newly cycled? How long has it had water and what was done to cycle it?

API master kit and took a sample into the store to be checked as well.

The tank is newly cycled. Meaning, it has stable water parameters established for about a week now. It's been cycling for a little over 4 weeks.

To update the problem, the cichlid is doing fine and exhibiting normal behaviors. I believe I was correct in my assumptions. He is accepting food and swimming normally.

Good, sounds like your cichlid has adjusted and your ammonia and nitrite numbers can be trusted.

It's unusual to show zero ppm nitrate at the end of a cycle. What was your ammonia source during the 4 weeks and do you have any live plants?

Have you been performing large water changes such that all the nitrate(NO3) might be out of the tank at the moment?

Agree with WD. Keep a daily practice of testing your water for at least another month and then if everything is okay you can back off a bit. Just that a three week cycle is unusual so many of us would guess that you are at risk of having ammonia and nitrite spikes.

Good luck and be extra diligent right now.

API test kit is a good one.
