Hello.

I've never seen my Plants Pearling. That was untill two days ago.

I came home to see my Amazon Sword Pearling..WOW..I though, Then I noticed that there was no water movement. My Pump had stopped working. For how long I don't know, but I have a new one and the water is fine etc etc....

So, Why is the only time I've seen them Pearl, the only time my Pump has not been on?

Coincidence or is there more to it?

Could it be that the output from your pump is so high that the bubbles were being "blown away" before you saw them? Another possibility is high water movement knocks CO2 out of solution, so with the pump off, the CO2 level built up to a better level for the plant.

make sure the output from your new filter isn't making ripples on the surface. as lateral line said. then you should see pearling again.

Thanks...but I thought ripples were a good thing...surface agitation for oxygen? Although I make sure it's not too much..

Surface agitation is good for Oxygen uptake, but in planted tanks, CO2 levels are very important. CO2 is a lot less soluable in water then Oxygen, and easily comes out of solution when there is a lot of water movement/surface agitation.

That is why most heavily planted tanks you see are lightly stocked with fish and relatively slowly filtered with submerged returns aimed down the glass.
