Hello.

Ive had my standard pleco for about 8 years now, hes 16inches long and is in a 350 litre tank, at the moment.

He usually spends most his time in his cave and out on the glass, eating the algae. However, the past few weeks, hes been spending most his time head down in one corner of the tank. We are thinking maybe hes poorly. We have used some epsom salts in case he constipated or something, but that doesnt seem to have helped.

Nothing has changed in the tank, all his tank mates are still the same and are all thriving. Just done a water check and, even though we done a water change not 2 weeks ago, it says we should do another one, which we will do this week.

Does anyone think something could be wrong with him, or could he just have found a new place he likes to sit?

Thanks.

My largest common plec hasnt used a cave/pipe now for years, he likes snoozing head down in a plant. Is he pooing normally? does he have wood to rasp on? apart from algae (which at this size they dont really usually eat) what other foods are you feeding him?

He has wood to rasp on and he is pooing fine, as far as i can see.
We feed him pleco wafers amd pellets every other day.

Maybe he has just changed where he likes to sleep.

Just keep a close eye on him, but it sounds like he has just change how he likes to be in the tank :)
