Hi all,

I've noticed a few strange spores in my tank; does anyone know what they are?

They're probably about 4mm in size.

Cheers

They're called hydra, and are related to sea anemones. Can be a risk to very small fish and fry, but are quite hard to kill with any kind of meds. Squashing them is probably your best bet.

Interesting, I haven't heard of them. I wonder how they were introduced.

Thanks for the info.

I think they can produce a very tough egg, which can be wind carried.

is it that thing in the middle you are discussing? (sorry for my lack of knowledge it is just out of curiosity) :)

I found an interesting video on them :)
