Strange Severum Colour

Was just sitting on the couch last night and caught my biggest severum changing colour from the corner of my eye!
Usually 'he' looks like this-

Last night this, but he changed stripes and no stripes and then back to plain green.

the stripes are stress bars. was the sev getting bullied at all or have you added any new fish recently? have you checked the water stats?

Not checked the water recently, I'll have a look, this is the bigger of the fish in the tank and hasn't done it before and has never been bullied and the tank hasn't changed in weeks., I'll check the water tonight when I get home.
Hope it's all ok. Looked spectacular, feel bad now because I though it looked great.

its probably nothing to worry about so dont worry. stress bars are on and off with cichlids it doesnt take much to bring them up.

He looks stressed his fins are clamped too. Smaller fish can still pick on bigger fish so watch for that. Fast movement or something going on out side the tank can stress them. I would do a large water change regadless.

Levels seem fine, just done a test, will do a large water change tomorrow evening ( first chance I have )
I was worried about him, the Molly I have in the tank is a bit of a pest sometimes, perhaps removing that will help.
