hi, i am about 6 weeks in to a fishless cycle, my ammonia is droping from 4ppm to 0ppm in less than 10 hours.
i tested my water today and found that my nitrite is at 0ppm , and nitrate are at 160ppm, heres the strange part , my ammonia was at 1ppm, how can nitrite be at 0 if there is still ammonia presant ?

thanks chris

Just means your bacteria are doing their job. I would suggest that when your ammonia is next measured at 0 your nitrite will also be 0 and since this is happening very quickly I would also suggest your cycling is complete. A 95% water change to get rid of all the nasties and you're ready for fish.
