Was watching the guppies tonight eat the uneaten food from the substrate, when I saw something that made me giggle if I'm honest.
I have 5 male guppies and they were all feeding together then one of them bounced of the substrate, then a couple more did it, like copycats.
It's like they swam then just bounced their bellys on the sand then continued to swim normally.

Are they supposed to do this?

Flicking can be coz of a irritation, this could be caused by many things. From the fish just rubbing the body, poor water irritating the gill's to a disease in the water.

How new are the fish?
How often do u do water changes?
Do u test you water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?
How old is the system their living in?

4 of the guppies were added to the tank two days ago.
20% water change weekly.
Haven't got a new test kit yet.
Tank has been running for 3 years now.

Will keep an eye on them.

It sounds like you are in a good position Laura.P. If you have maintained the same group under your present conditions and with your present maintenance for 4 years, you are doing something right. What we cannot judge is what your new tank additions may have done to your tank's chemistry. If it has caused the nitrite or ammonia in your tank to spike, it may be having unexpected effects.

Exactly what i was heading for in the questions before.
I'll do a couple of extra water changes just incase you have had a spike by adding new fish, just to be on the safe side.
