Hey all. Not even a week ago Rio, my cockatoo dwarf cichlid, had a strange lump on his right nostril, like it had swelled up. But therr was this strange stuff coming out of it. To me it looked like long pieces of fuzz, and to my dad it looked like two little legs.

It started out as just a swelling of the nostrils, at least that's what it appeared to be to me. I wasn't sure what to do about it, so I upped water changes and hoped for the best. A few days later there was this pinkish fuzz all over it. It looked like fungus, but isn't that stuff white?

Anyway, I put him in my 10 gallon quanantine tank, and, thinking it was either a bacterial issue and/or a fungal one I treated with Fungus Clear Tank Buddies, which also deals with bacterial infections. I did water changes every day, and left him there for about a week. The fuzz went away. Perhaps stupidly I put him back into the main tank, and he looked okay for a few days. Then the fuzz returned, so I put him BACK into the 10 gallon quarantine tank and used something a little stronger this time: Maroxy. He wasn't looking too hot, so I was getting worried.

Suddenly one day...it's gone. Not just the fuzz, but the lump as well. It's like it's never even been there, and this happened overnight. What the heck is going on?? lol.

Anyway here are my tank stats:

Tank: 32 Gallons (30"L 23"T 12.5"W)
Filtration: 70 AquaClear filter (on max)
Fish: 3 corydoras catfish(various species), cockatoo dwarf cichlid, 1 Keyhole cichlid(they get along excellent :D ), and 3 black neons.
Plants: lightly planted
Heater: 125 or 150 watts can't remember right now
Changes: None
Chemicals added: None
Ph: between 6.8 and 7
Nitrates:5
Nitrites:0
Ammonia:0

I don't think I forgot anything. If there is let me know.

The pink fuzz was columnaris which can come in pink.
