Here's a couple of pictures of her from last night:

I'm pretty sure the Pearl has Ich and it's slowly getting better with treatment. The arrow shaped mark & the pinkish white spot are what I'm really worried about. I do believe the marks look like an injury but it could be bacterial, fungal or a parasite. I just want to know has anyone seen marks like these?

The patches don't look like ich to me. The pic is a little blurry, but it still doesn't look like ich. Ich will look like someone sprinkled salt on the fish. That looks more like a fungus or bacterial infection, IMHO.

The arrow shaped mark is now gone, but those cloudy patches are still there along with the original pink spot. You could very well be right that it's not Ich since I'm a newbie to this sport.

Any ideas on how to tell what it is? I don't have a better camera to take a more detailed picture but I did ask the wife for a good one for Christmas.

I'd hate to tell you to treat the fish with a med. I really can't tell from the pic. I believe it looks like an injury of some kind and possibly a secondary infection. Do the grey patches look fluffy? I can tell you that when I have something like this, I use melafix and pimafix when one of my fish have an injury.

No, they don't look fluffy or raised, nor do they have any cottony, thread like things on them. I looked at her through a magnifying glass too. What product names contain the meds you named?

Those are the names. They are made by API.

Thanks for answering eaglesaquarium. I had to go teach a class. Melafix and pimafix are api products. They are a more natural product made from treetea oils. Alot of people don't like them and say they are not effective. I use them as a first line of defense. I find they work nice for wounds. If it doesn't work, then it's time for more serious meds.

I checked both of those at PetSmart. One is for fungal & one is for Bacterial. I've been treating my tank religiously with the Kordon Rid Fungus so I really doubt it's a fungus problem at this point. Quite honestly it doesn't look like any of the internet pictures I've seen of Bacterial infections either. The fins are all intact, there isn't any open wound looking marks except the single pink spot on her head. I have API Tetracycline but again, it doesn't look like a bacterial infection judging from the pictures I've seen.

I read another thread on this site where Eaglesaquarium mentioned "gill flukes" as a possible reason for fish "flicking." I found that interesting since almost all the symptoms seem to be happening with this particular fish. They even mention a cloudy haze on the fish that they say is built up mucus that the fish creates to combat the flukes. I've noticed that my tetras all seem to twitch or flick but I thought that was normal? In fact mys son's Neons & Glowlights flick too. I just thought it was a "Tetra thing."
