Recently I have noticed that my female German blue ram is expelling a lot of waste of which comprises white and brownish segments. This issue coincided with action taken to cool down the aquarium due to a heatwave pushing the water temperature to 28.8 degrees C (anticipating that the 28.8 degrees C temp would recur); to be exact, I lowered the temperature to 26 degrees C over a two day period from 28 degrees C, however it became apparent soon after the 2nd day that I had accidentally turned the heater knob to point to the 25 degrees C number.
Consequently, this action induced the female Ram to begin burrowing to deposit eggs and the pinkish area of her main body became more colourful. However, as stated above, she also began to constantly pass brown and whitish segments of faecies and has what can only be described has black tire marks running horizontally from the centre of the abdomen (this is a colour morph that the fish often represents when it is stressed or unsure about something) to the tail fin. She is spitting all her food out which is why I don't understand how she can be passing copious amounts of pooh.
I realise that the symptoms above are typical of hexamita but I've yet to see the hole-in-the-head issue which is encouraging.
Any thoughts on what I'm dealing with here? As an accidental +1 temperature change really sent this fish to an early hexamita-induced grave??!!
There are no other symptoms
