I'm sorry to say this, but the fry probably died due to poor water quality; they need filtration as much as adult fish, and produce a lot of waste for their size. A net, or something wih holes in would have been better so the water could circulate, but what's best is to either move the mother into a separate tank, or have lots and lots of plants for the fry to hide out in.im devastated, got up this morning and the two fry were dead. i didnt have a breading net or anything, as i wasnt expecting fry. so i had just moved them into a small plastic tub, filled with tankwater and a bit of gravel, and hooked it onto the inside of the tank.
i couldnt have released them into the tank, as they would have just got eaten straight away , due to their size. yesterdays events most have really stressed them. gutted, at least ive got pictures to remind me anyway.
but after doing a bit of reading, would i be right in thinking the female may give birth to more in about 6 to 8 weeks? how would i know though, because i didnt think she was any fatter or acting any differently?
