Strange Algae

If you've seen my posts this week, I had a terrible time because the heaters on my 55g went out and killed many fish.

I've gotten past that part, but have now noticed little tufts of algae growing on my two biggest rocks in that tank. It seems odd that algae would sprout up because of cold water. ??

a change of temperature will have unsettled the little ecosystem you have going on, probably more than just your fish have died with the change in the temp such as the bacteria living in your filter which in turn will affect the level of nutrients in your water
