well in recent weeks i have added one-to two black mystery snails. i know snails don't add much to the bioload in a tank so a black mystery in a five gallon or two in half i han't had many problems. in fact the snails in jaspers snails have completly gobbled up all of the brown alge in it. he has two black mysteries and one ruby ramhorn which i sware does more work then the mysteries. anyways most of the four bettas don't have many problems with there snails, some even enjoy watching them move around, in raynes case she likes stealing there food (i drop alege waffers for the snails.) Storm is the only one who seems to dislike his snail, and his tank is the one who badly needs it. he will dive on the snail and brush by it, going side to side right above the snail scaring the snail into his shell, thus not letting the snail do his work. i am wondering should i get a second snail so if he harasses one the other can continue on his mission of cleaning tank.

how long has the snail been in there?

i've kept only one snail, and my betta had a fit at first..... but slowly got used to him over about a week period. I have read cases where snails have suffered damage though.

Have you tried putting a couple otos in there to clean up? Rayne might not be able to catch em... but I have had a betta snag one by the tail

edit: too bad I can't throw some "distraction snails" in my Oscar tank. He won't let the pleco do his job and has been harrassing him for a month now . I'm afraid any sort of snail might become a quick snack (shell and all).

Snails become a snack to my convicts too,,incl. shells. totaly snail free plant. Obv bigger snails may fair better not too sure though.

storm had a catfish as a room mate for almost a month, no problems same with rayne she had too, except the cats turned out to be nasty fish. jasper howver has not been the freindliest fsh with other roommates, infact the snails have been the only thing he hasn't flared at and attacked. i think what pissed off storm however is one morning i woke up and the snail was sleeping in the spot that storm normally builds his bubble nests. oh storm was not a happy betta.
