I'm trying to set up a playlist for use in my store. It's a convenience store located in Alabama with an older male and female demographic. Currently I have songs from Train, Depeche Mode, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and a few other popular artists from the last decade or so.

I would appreciate any suggestions you guys could throw out there, though I am looking in particular for "oldies" like "Billy Jean" or "Sweet Dreams" or whatever was popular before I was born. >.>

Oh and I've already looked at the VH1 top songs of the 80's and 90's with minimal success, so if anyone has other sites along those lines, that would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

hi, there was a study once that found that if you play classical music in a store people are more likely to buy. :good:

Gregorian chant or instrumentals always go down
well in shops its a bit like elevator music  maybe
some chill out stuff like pan pipe music

how about J.S Bach concerto for 2 violins in d minor? or possibly solfeggietto by C.P.E Bach. i'm playing both of these ATM, and they are great pieces. :good:

One of my fave songs from that era has to be Nazi punks F off by the dead kennedies. I even have an original pressing of the 7".

i like the dead Kennedy's also like the exploited the anti nowhere league going back to my time as a punks but the thing is i still like it now i still find it fresh today i dare say it would pass as backround music if not played at full belt

Some good music from that era, I've even had the pleasure of sharing a stage with the subhumanz.

On a serious note, scrubs do have a nice range of songs. From lazlo bane, Colin hay, etc. Mostly upbeat but also fairly relaxing.

You can't argue with the studies on classical music.

There's a band called (I think) lounge against the machine that do covers of rock/metal songs but in a lounge jazz style...
