ok i just read a site on keeping frogs you see and it says they dont need a filter... and i have a betta with mine and i know they dont usually need one.... and i was just wondering if i stopped my filter would it affect my 2 cories?
i have an ehiem (cant spell) 2008 i think in a 5gal (because i got it free)
i have an airpump

I would keep the filter, all fish need clean water and your Betta and Cories are no different. True you don't need a filter just for 1 Betta, but you would then have to do weekly 100 % water changes, just my opion though.

With the cories, I'd leave it on.

Also, you should try to set in on minimum flow. Bettas hate currant.

Always keep the filter on. It's where most of the good bacteria (eaters of amonia, nitrite and nitrate) live.

Evening out the flow may be a good idea but depending on the size of the tank it may also be a good idea to have the flow in just one place so the betta can choose to be in it or not.

:)

You have a betta, cories and a frog ina 5 gall hex?

Definatley keep the filter on in that case. It's small volume with a small surface area, you need some movement to encourage oxygenation of the water. Does the betta seem bothered by the current? If not, then leave it as it is.
