Picked these up at my local beach when out with the dog

Are they safe enough to put in my tank

Gave them a good scrub, but don't know if they OK ?

Will have to post pics on 3 different posts as I can't re size them small enough for this one

top ones test with vinegar - if they fizz no no no

middle ones are granite - should be fine

bottom on test with vinegar.

Check them all for veins of metals - any green coppery or rust red lines - then no no no.

Men't to ask ... whats wrong with them if they fizz??

i think its something to do with they will release salt into the tank im most probally wrong mind lol but ive just picked up that tip with vinegar goin fishing tomoz so ill be looking out for some nice rocks lol

The only vinegar I had at hand was from a jar of pickled onions left over from christmas  No apparent fizzing so hope they're OK

Will leave them soaking for a while and then see how they look.

Good luck tmrw hope you get some nice stones.....

fizzing means the rocks are alkaline and will effect the pH of your tank.

see told you i would be wrong lol thanks hope fully catch nice fish and rocks lol and before any one asks i never keep my fish i do it purely for sport

Also just give them a decent scrub with warm water as you don't know whats been on them :good:

Also i left my slate/rock in water for a month before adding to my tanks,
Removed salt and that.

I'll leave them for a while in water, tank currently cycling so I've plenty of time, and also to make up mind as how to place them

On looking at the pics I posted some of them don't look that interesting but they should make a good hiding place.
