Stocking.

this is just another boring stocking question but its something im unsure about myself to thought id ask anyways.
 
my current stock is in my sig. do you think im understocked? overstocked?
 
ive been thinking a lot about my stock today and it just seems kinda mish mashy. not really a theme, just mismatched.

I would probably say yes to be honest. You have 7 decent sized schools in there 3 of which are Cories which are quite chunky fish as well as a BN .... not sure which to suggest to rehome - would probably say a bigger tank is the best option.

I'd say you're very stocked as well. I don't believe that the danios should be doing well in your tank though if you consider that they prefer cooler waters than the rams do. What temperature do you keep your tank? The albino corydoras (of which I would add more, were this my tank) need slightly cooler water as they are more sensitive to light. Also, how do your rams get on with so much lower level stocking? Mine would be quite upset, but maybe that's just my guys (although now, it's just the one male).

the tank is 3 feet wide. 1 1/4 feet tall and about 1 foot wide. its been running for about a year and a half now. no problems other than a few random deaths and one bought of cotton wool disease..
 
the germans were a present from last years birthday (july). i was told on this forum they wouldnt last 2 weeks.

Dispose of the danios since they need a 4 foot tank to be able to be happy.
I Also suggest that after the danios are rehomed make the temp slightly higher. Like 25 degreed celcius

also.. danios do not need a 4 foot tank lol.

Yes, they certainly do require four feet. They are an extremely active species, so giving them anything less than four feet is rather inhibiting to their nature.

are we talking about the same fish? the fish is 2 inches long MAX. my tanks 3 feet. your over exaggerating a little bit to be honest. a very reputable member of this forum has told me that its more than enough room for them.

You wouldn't need to, as they have 7 bronze cories to keep them company - both are c. aeneus, the albino being a colour morph of the standard bronze.

A 3 foot is the absolute minimum for zebras - they live in fast moving mountain streams, to be able to swim upstream against the current, they are capable of quite astounding speed. THey can reach one side of a 3' tank in a less than the blink of an eye. Bigger is better.

ive had them a year and a half no problems at all. no deaths or disease, all healthy, females even dropping eggs.
 
if 3 feet is the minimum then my 3 footer is fine.

was thinking of dwindling down numbers and getting centre peice fish like trio of angels or trio of apistos?

I quite agree, they swim very fast and need lots of space.

Well thats the rams gone now, rehomes them.


Kinda miss the look of them now, need a center piece fish
