Hi,

I'm thinking of adding some new fish to my tank and I am trying to decide between White Cloud Mountain Minnow or Dwarf Rainbowfish.

I already have 6 Odessa Barbs, 2 Blue Rams, 2 Pearl Gouramis and 2 Dwarf Gouramis, plus 12 Amano shrimps in a 110L planted tank. A friend of mine who has an aquarium says I could go for 5 of the minnow AND 5 of the dwarf rainbowfish. A LFS agrees but to me it sounds a lot. I've had no real issues with water in the 3 weeks since I've cycled.

Would that be overstocked?

If so which fish would people advise?

Thanks!

I would be tempted to put the barb number up to 10/12 instead and make a more impressive and eye catching school of fish. i feel tanks with a bazillion different types of fish look a bit naff :(

Dwarf neon rainbows because WCMM do better in coolwater and some of your fish are definite tropicals.

I would also go *only* for one new species as a maximum, instead getting more dwarf rainbows and more Odessa barbs, the fish would benefir from that.

Brilliant, thanks. Upping numbers of the oddessa and/or the dwarf rainbows then. My main worry had been that so far my fish were quite orange.

Another option would be Cardinal Tetras instead. I'm slightly put of as so many people have Neons but I do wonder if they would look good in a shoal? Alternatively, I've seen the Blue King Tetra. I do wonder whether having fish that really shoal and move as one might be a nice alternative? I'm guessing the Dwarf Rainbows won't do that as much as the Tetras?

I'd also read that the Pearl Gouramis could become aggressive towards Tetra if they breed, would it be best to avoid them due to this?
