is this OK stocking for a 240 litre tank. it comes with a Fluval 305 External Filter. if it is a little overstocked could i get an extra filter to help.

3 platy
8 guppy
2 BN plecs
8 cories
1 pair of cockatoo cichlids
1 pair of bolivian rams
6 marbled hatchetfish
5 dwarf pencilfish
15 neon tetras
12 glowlight tetras
8 red phantom tetras
8 lemon tetras
8 x-ray tetras
6 rummy nosed tetras

it sounds like alot but because the fish are small it might work

Do all of those fish get along? Not sure what a cockatoo is...

The only problem is the guppys may get there fins nipped!

It's an Apistogramma dwarf cichlid. Only thing I'd worry about is them and the rams. Shouldn't be a showstopper, but you might need to rearrange decor to break up territories when you introduce them. With cichlids, the order of introduction makes a difference sometimes - somebody in the South American cichlid forum can probably help on that.

Be careful with Thinkfish's calculator, it seems to vastly overestimate things for some reason - It says I can almost tripple my stocking level, but there's no way my tank would hold more than a 50% increase, and even then they'd be bouncing off each other. Your list looks fine to me, but don't get too excited if Thinkfish says you can safely double it.

would you suggest putting both pairs of cichlids in at the same time?

i have been looking at a range of south american fish and i've changed my mind about stocking so hows this instead?
