It's been a really long time since i've been able to be on here. Things at work finally have calmed down, and after a disasterous roommate situation, i've got my own place and can finally get my main tank from my parents house.

When I left off in August, I had just gotten a 40 gal tank, dimensions are 36"x15"x17", that I want to get back to stocking. It currently houses 6 tiger barbs. What suggestions do people have for stocking? I would like something that is active and preferably brightly colored, and obviously will be able to live wiht the barbs. Re-homing them is not an option as I really don't want to risk my fish getting bougth and put in less than ideal conditions.

I haven't tested the water here, but from what i have gathered from a LFS, it is hard with a high pH. (I know to add fish slowly, and the tank is cycled for the current level of fish).

I think larger rainbowfishes can go with tiger barbs. Maybe try boesmani rainbows, they are yellow, blue, green and sometimes black. Also they are fast and hardy, and a good shoaler.

RTBS/ram species/zebra loaches/neon rainbow/ all this can be nice tank mate for ur bar.
