Stocking Question

Morning all, just a quick one on my stocking. I have a 55 gal tank which currently houses

4 platys
4 neon tetra
4 black phantom tetra
7 black neon tetra
2 Bolivian rams
1 plec

Now I was considering adding 6 kuhli loach and 2 black angel fish my question is would I be able to add these with out the tank being over crowded ?

Well it all depends on what kind of plec you have in there as some of them can be quite a nice size & some can be gigantic tank busters.

It's a common plec about 7" now but will building a nice 7ftx2ftx2ft tank in summer when I get my own place

Well you already know the plec is a problem for the 55 gallon. So that aside, two angels and 6 loaches would work fine in the 55, but watch your stats as the pleco is adding a lot to your bioload and new fish could bump you over your filter's limit. That said, I would double filter the tank. Also angel fish are funny characters. I have a pair that would be fine with neons if they were raised with them I think. I have another, from different stock that has started hunting neons, killed one, and the angel is about the size of a US 50 cent piece.

it's certainly a risk with neons.

I added a juvi angels to a tank with 8 neons (fully grown) and never had a problem......but they are natural food for angels in the wild, hence the risk!

Yea I had two befor in an old tank and added them as juvis with neons n they were fine but my tanks in thriving and I'm getting platty fry so I dint want to upset the ballence
