hi all........

was just wondering about my tank........

its a rio 180.........at the mo i have in it.......

a plec.......maybe 6-7 ins long which we are thinking of replacing because of its size,
4 neons
redtailed shark, 4ins
2 clown loach, 4ins
3 fully grown angels
a silver shark

these fish are great..........theres no bullying, not even from the angels........even the clowns and the redtail get on fine..........

i want to add some cories if we do replace the plec as the tank has a sand base.......

asically just wondering if i can add a few more fish and if anyone can suggest what to poss add,

thanks

lee

Right firstly you gonna have to lose more the just the plecostamus, the two clown loaches will have to be rehomed aswell as the silver shark. The Rio 180 is way too small for them as they grow huge.

Now the corries will more then likely get bullied and possible die from the Redtailed Black Shark and maybe from the Angels too.

It's hard to stock your tank as you've got 3 main attractions already in the tank... Redtailed Black Shark, Neons, Angels

I'd be surprised if your Shark's don't nip the Angels and eat the Neons.

Due to the size that the angel and redtailed black shark get too I'd say you've pretty much taken up most of the space in the tank already.

I may be wrong in saying this but, I'd choose 1 main attraction out of your 3 and then get rid of the other 2 and focus the other stocking ideas around your chosen attraction.

Example:

Redtailed Black Shark

Other fish: Tiger Barbs, etc

but like i said in my first post................all the fish are in good health, theres no nipping or bullying goin on.........

the shark doesnt bother anything other than the clowns......and even then it just swims with them or vice verser, theres no nipping or frantick chasing round the tank.........they literaly just swim with each other.......like shoal

i can honestly say that it is or looks a happy tank,

You'll still need to get rid of the silver shark and the clowns due to them being too big for that tank.

It may look all nice n dandy to you, but do you watch it when the lights go off? That's when the RTBS comes out, and when both sharks will do the damage.

It's a known fact that Silver Sharks and RTBShark shouldn't be mixed togeather. And I'm sure you shouldn't keep clowns with RTBShark aswell as they both occupy the lower part of the tank, and RTBSharks are very terratorial.

I'm just saying what other people have told me.

i know what your saying mate..........

but for fish that have been in a tank together for over a year.....seems a shame to split them now........and if there is any nasty pasty stuff going on when the lights go off surly i would see damaged fish the next day??????

like i said.......they ALL in really good condition, no nipped fins or damage to any........and this is after a year of being in the same tank together, so now im baffled lol

cheers anyway

Well clown loaches need the minimum of a 400L tank, so thats them, same with silver sharks,
if you got rid of these 3, you'd have some extra room, not much but some extra.

I think saying that some of your fish 'have to go' is a bit much but you really need to start planning for a bigger tank.

You silver shark could get up to 14" and the clown loach, though slow growing could get to 12/13". If you can not afford a bigger tank then you shoudl consider rehoming.

how quickly will the sharks and clown loaches grow..........

a bigger tank is something id consider but is it a defo already seeing as they are still quite small fish????

Clowns take a while to grow but when they do wow, you need a big tank. Also it's best to keep the silver sharks in groups aswell of atleast 6 I think. And they grow big and need lots of room to swim, your possibly looking at a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank if you want them to be happy.
