i recently purchased a green terror for my 70g tank. i was wondering if i got an oscar would it get terrorized when the fish mature (theyre both only about 2-3 inches atm. thanks for you help

haha yeah, its the latter that im afraid of. my htought was that if they grew together it would be more likely that they would coexist. the tank measures 48 x 18 x 24

Hummm always tricky this. It really depends on the fish themselves, there is nothing you can do if they both turn out to be real alpha males who want to kill each other. There is no formula when it comes to big cichlids.
Best thing to do is grow them up together and see. When they get to around 6", if they havent liqidated each other they they should be ok. Also put a lot of large rocks and wood around so a definate teratory can be esablished. If you notice that one is cowering away a lot, then you will have to find a new tank for him.

I've had a Green Terror and an Oscar together for a little over a year now in a 55 gal. and they have been fine. Get them both when they're young because the Oscar will quickly outgrow the GT, which I think discourages the mean side of the GT to come out. Sometimes my O will swim towards the GT but the GT will just get out his way, and all is fine. I think the GT knows his role pretty much! lol However once the Green Terror gets full grown you MAY run into problems, just have a divider handy. But GTs grow pretty slow, mine does at least. He's only about 4 inches right now after a year. They're all going back to fish store in a few months because I'm moving cross country, so I will never have to worry about the GT getting big and mean. But if I were you I would definitely take the risk, they are both awesome fish.

I had a 10 inch Oscar with a 4 inch Green Terror and they seemed to get along. There was some territorial struggles but they came out ok. The truth is just because my situation worked doesn't mean your wills. Sometimes all you can do is try, and worse case scenario you split them up.
