So I'm definitely getting the new tank. The measurements are a touch odd its 30" x 18" x 14". So My first plan is to bump up my Kuhli and Black widow schools then I want a single centrepiece fish.

So the fish that are definitely going in there are
10 black widow tetras (also known as black skirt tetras)
6 striped kuhli loaches.

Then I want either 1 or 2 centrepiece fish, so far ideas are, keeping in mind I only want ONE option-
2 x Male Mollies,
2 x Female Mollies
1 x Pearl Gourami
1 x Black paradise fish
1 x Bolivian Ram
1 x Paradise fish
1 x Angelfish

I run out of ideas at about there LOL.

Tank will be heated, with sand for a substrate. Will have Java moss and some fake plants and broken pots for places to hide.

Any comments or ideas? suggestions? Keeping in mind I live in Aus and only really have access to the more common species..

Well the gouramis and paradise fish have been crossed off.

I'm still open to any other suggestions, I'm after something that will stand out from the tetras, preferably something with a touch of that iridescant shine you sometimes see on the gouramis/mollies etc.

Can anyone give me some feed back over whether or not these will work?
Definitely
10 black widow tetras
6 Kuhli loaches

Then either
2 x Male Mollies
2 x Female Mollies
1 x Bolivian Butterfly
Or 1 x Angelfish

I know the inch per gallon rule means that with just the kuhlis and tetras the tanks overstocked, but really, I seriously hold no stock by that rule, a 2 inch kuhli has no where near the bioload of a 2 inch tetra...

Well done a heap of research and am siding towards
1 x angelfish
10 x black widow tetras
6 x Kuhli loaches

Although their have been a few comments about black widows nipping angels, theres been far more about keeping them in groups of 5+ with angels and having it work fine. Plus black widows are the wrong shape to be eaten by an angel, which always helps. I will definitely steer clear of veiltail angels though.

So does that sound okay?

i had black widows with my angels had about 8 black widows and 5 angels and had no bother with them but every fish if differant like us

cheers dane
