My cousin wants to start a freshwater tank and he needs help figuring out some stocking options. I'm supposed to travel down to L.A to help him set it up but I have to work for Habitat For Humanity that weekend. And I don't want to miss building homes for the needy :fun: . Anywho, can someone help by making a list of fish that he can have in it. He e-mailed me and said he wanted an Oscar which left me speechless  . Yeah he needs that much help -_- . LOL, So yeah if anyone can make me a list of fish I would be more than thankful  ;)

Blimey.
Where to start. There are a lot of different fish you can have in 29 gallon. I dont think anyone is going to have the time to list them all!!

Help people out here. Whats his water like? What kind of set up does he want? Other than an oscar anything else mentioned?

The thing is that he never researched anything about fish. Buying his fish tank was a spur of the moment type thing. So he's counting on me to lead him into the right direction. Since he has a gorgeous a** house maybe something more elegant as well as being eye candy. Maybe this would work:
  • 6 Tetra's
  • 2 Angelfish
  • 6 Panda Cory's
  • 6 Tiger Barbs
  • 2 Neon Blue Dwarf Gouramis

I'm not sure about the angels with the tetras, I've noticed a lot of people have said that the angels would eat them. I'm also not sure if the tiger barbs might be nippy with the angels and gouramis. A good alternative to tiger barbs are five-banded barbs. Very similar looking but very peaceful fish, they'd also be ok with the tetras. Sorry I can't be of more help. :/

Yeah i would lose the barbs and either choose gourami or angel. Maybe up the shoal of tetras instead or have like cardinal tetra and rummynose tetra. Also apparantly angels sometimes eat tetras when they are older but from what i hear its pot luck as to whether they do.

Let the tetras get full grown before introducing angels but I would add 4-6 angels, find two that pair off, return the four or just get one.

Hmm, You guys are right! So many options, I think I'll just wait until it cycles before I get into his stocking list. :p . But I'll keep your ideas in mind

Go with the Angels and tetras. The Tiger Barbs will probably harass the Angels too much. And go with one Gourami, because if you get two males they will constantly fight with each other and I hardly ever see females for sale. But my one Gourami gets along perfectly fine with my Angels.
