A database like ##143### is only as good as the rules governing it, so it really would not surprise me if its stocking is conservative. Like you say, a well-planted tank should not only create more line-of-sight boundaries, but also help detoxify ammonia and nitrates.

Does sound like a nice South American setup. Any temptation to try Zebra Otos? They are gorgeous, but pricey, I was going to get a couple until I decided I definitely wanted to go for quirky fish 6-12cm long. I suspect Otos would be competing with the Panda Garras for algae at all levels of the tank, even if I would no tbe concened about how Otos would do with the Opsarius and Humphead Glassfish.

You have got good filtration in there. Might just need to up the water changes an extra 5-10% a week if you add more.

I bet it has been done before, but part of me thinks a "Online stocking guides say I'm overstocked, but I have these fish [species, size] and this equipment [rating for water movement, live plant species etc] with everything running fine" thread could be the way forward here...

Scotty, you are obviously no "spring chicken" to this hobby, you have been a memebr here for ~5 years. Actual personal experience usually means a lot more than internet aquired knowledge. Any computer program is dependent upon the rules input by the software designer.

By the way, how big were your Wresling Halfbeaks? I went to Titchfield with my better half today before going to my fourite LFS and coming back with some Yellowtail Congo Tetra, where I saw some "Red fin Halfbeaks" that were ~4cm long and ~5mm diameter. They looked lovely, yet so fragile!

I think you could maby get away with a few more fish. I would go for something like a gourami, angelfish or festivum as a center peice. Or maby some small catfish or more corys. I wouldnt trust ##143### and places like that to much it says my stock is about 175% but ive never had any ammonia or nitrates and most of my fish are fully grown.

was thinking of a centre piece fish myself,but would like to keep the south american theme,as ph suits them best,so anyone any ideas on a south american centre piece fish
