I'd like to know a bit about this, I have a 35L Biube and just wanted to see how you all found my final stock list.

Current: 5 neon tetras.
1 Dwarf Gourami
Prospective: 4-6 (male) guppies
2 platys or more
Black Ghost Knife fish (semi-possible)
Obviously this will be once the tank is fully cycled and will be a slow build up over the next few months. I'm a bit worried about over-stocking though. The manual recommends 12 smallish fish, and I was told tetras are 1/2 a fish and thus the tank is just about at 12. So thoughts?

Hmm, that would be overstocking the tank- its about 6gals, which really isn't a lot, many fish while they appear small anmd mature in fish stores, can grow very large like the black ghost knife and far too big for a 6gal. You alos have to take into account teh activity of fish, some fish while they appear small are just too active.
Realistically speaking, you could have 2 female and 1 male guppys or 3 females, you could also try endlers instead if you want somthing more unsual but still guppy-like, but the other fish are too big and/or active for a 6gal.
There are a fair amount of small fish and critters out there that will go in a 6gal if you stock them correctly and carefully, there are many types of shrimp and colorful ornemental snails, bettas, a dwarf puffer, endlers, oto's, etc that could go in a 6gal (of course not altogether :p )...

If you have 5 neons and 1 dwarf gourami already, you haven't got a lot of room in a 35 ltr tank (I make that 9 US gallons). I'd suggest 3 shrimps.

Black Ghost Knife fish grow huge alot bigger than your tank around 20 inches. i would follow the suggestion of guppies but only one sex as you'll have way to many fry otherwise.

i duno if you can class tetra's as 1/2 a fish???

:good:
