Hiya, I previously asked what fish I could keep in my juwel trigon 190. I wasn't sure what I liked at that point but have been looking at fish and have a list of what we like so if people could help me out with what fish are compatible it would be much appreciated as I have only dealt with tetras, corys, mollies, platys, plecs and goldfish. So at the moment going into the tank later today I have 3 lemon tetras, 5 platys and a bristle nose plec.
My son REALLY wants kissing gourami but I have been advised against this so other fish we decided we like are.. Blue gourami, opaline gourami, angelfish, ruby/rainbow shark, glass/ghost catfish, swordtails.
I know all of these are not compatible but when I google it people are keeping different sharks, 4/5 angelfish, kissing gouramis etc all in the same tank yet other people are saying only 1 shark per tank, more than 1 angelfish fight etc so I'm just confused as to what mixture and how many fish I can have.

I will be adding more lemon tetras so the definite stock of my tank before I add more will be 10 lemon tetras, 5 platys and the bn plec. Thanks :)

I would definitely advise one shark per tank, not really that experienced with gouramis so i cant help you there sorry, one rainbow shark shouldnt bother really anything as you have mostly all top dwellers except the BN pleco which are fine with sharks. I would also think the glass catfish would be fine and you should provide them a school of at least 5 if you go that route. You could buy 4/5 angels as babies and grow them up until they pair and then keep the pair you like most and return the others if you like.

Thank you :) So I could have 1 rainbow shark, 2 angels as long as they were paired, platys, tetras, corys, plec. Can anyone else advise me what gourami(s) would be suitable to go with these fish?
I understand from other posts too I would be better to add the shark last?
Would 5 glass catfish go with the fish I mentioned above plus gouramis or would that be over stocking?
In the past I've always went with tank measurements for stocking purposes but I now have a corner tank so can't figure the measurements out plus certain fish require certain lengths/heights of tank

Keep an eye on the shark with the cories. Since they're both bottom dwellers and the shark can get territorial the cories might get picked on.

You could do some small peaceful honey gourami, or a 3-spot which is larger and semi-aggressive.
My 3-spot didn't attack anyone (except my angels, but I did not rearrange the tank when adding them, so they were in her territory), just chased sometimes.

I'm not sure if you'll be overstocked with the glass cats or not, as I'm not good at stocking numbers. :/ They are very timid though so you'd want more than 5. I personally would leave them out.

What tetras, cories and pleco are you thinking of getting? And i would agree to leave out the glass catfish, not really the best fish to have, a hiding see through fish isnt very fun IMO lol.

Well I have 3 lemon tetras at the moment so was going to buy 7 more of them. I have a bristlenose plec which is about 4 inches and I was planning on getting pepper corys. I would prefer the corys over the shark so if they won't get on I'll leave the shark out. Ok, I'll leave the glass catfish out as I have a lot of plants to move over from my current tank and there's already a lot of plants there so I would rather have fish I can see lol.
Angels are a definite, like I said before my wee boy had his heart set on kissing gouramis but got advised against them and he's quite happy to settle for angelfish instead.

So 10 lemon tetras, 5 platys, bn plec, 2 angelfish, 6-10? corys.. Is there a type of gourami I can get a few of that would go with the angelfish? I haven't had much luck with honey gouramis in the past, they kept dying so would rather not get them again, plus my lfs doesn't stock them but they have every other kind of gourami. Would like something colourful

The 3-spots are quite colorful. HERE is a bit of info on them.

You might like the pearl gourami more, THIS has some pics and info as well.

If you do get a gourami, I think I'd add the angels and it at the same time so neither has an established territory. Then keep an eye out for aggression.

Thank you :) I take it only one of the gouramis would be best? My fish I have are getting added tonight so will let them settle and go into my lfs on Sunday and see what they have in.

Well, it's either one or a trio. I was thinking just one as with a trio that's just more fish you're having to watch for aggression.
I'm also not sure if the bioload would be too much as the 3-spots get up to 6".

Sorry I'm not of much help :C

No you've been a great help :) I will get some fish on sunday but depending on what they have in will depend on what I get but I will add the gourami and angelfish together. So excited to finally be able to buy some big fish! Thanks again :)

Aw, you're welcome. I -think- by your other topics this tank is cycled, right? It processed 3ppm of ammonia in 24 hours?

Yeah, I put another 1ml of ammonia in last night and it had gone by this morning so I gave it a water change earlier and nitrates are down to below 10 now. Nitrites and ammonia are 0ppm. It was established filter already so I got a bit confused when it totally missed out nitrites but every time I've put ammonia in the nitrates have went up when the ammonia goes so think it's all good :) my fish have been moved over and are all swimming about happily so will keep checking it.

Ah okay, good! :) Keep an eye on it and I look forward to seeing your new fishies sunday.

You can usually always ask your pet store to special order fish as well, i always do and they always give me good deals :p

Hiya, just a wee update.. Went fish shopping on Sunday and the selection was terrible so only ended up with 2 lemon tetras they had had in for 2 months and no one wanted so I now have 5 very happy lemon tetras. Plan on getting another 3 or 5 when I can find some as no where seems to stock them. Went to another shop today hoping to get corys and came home with 4 angel fish and 2 pearl gouramis. I plan on waiting till 2 of the angel fish pair and then taking the other 2 back so won't have 4 adult angels. The 2 slightly larger angels are already sticking together and the other 2 just doing their own thing, surely they are too young to have paired already?
I had planned on just getting 1 gourami but the pair were in the tank by themselves and were inseperable so I didn't have the heart to just get 1 :( .. Haven't seen them since they went into my tank though!
And still no corys! Only ones I have seen have all been half dead and surprise surprise they were in pets at home.. I have 6 peppered corys ordered though so will be getting them a week on Thursday (not from p@h) :)
