I recently cycled my new tank which is a quite tall 3ft which holds around 48 gallons. So far I have a couple of peices of nice driftwood with plenty of hiding spots, a hollow rock, and a few anubius and amazon sword plants and sand. I have put in ten harlequin rasboras and one bristlenose catfish which are doing very well. Now I need help on what I should put in next. From looking around the LFS and online the fish I like are bolivian ram, dwarf gourami, discus, kuhili loach, glass catfish, bristlenose catfish, rummynose. Which ones should I choose and how many? I am open to any suggestions of other species! Thanks for reading.

What's the pH and hardness of your water? And the dimensions of the tank?

dimensions are L- 92cm (36in) W 36cm (14in) H 55cm (21in) pH and hardness are a little higher than what I would like, 7.6 and general hardness is 260.

with that tank then....

bolivian ram - yes. 2 would be fine.
dwarf gourami - yes - 1 male or 1 male and two female
discus - no, need much bigger tanks
kuhili loach - yes, you need sand as a substrate though as they love to dig and hide. A group of 6 for the bare minimum
glass catfish - no, need a bigger tank.
bristlenose catfish - yes, 1
rummynose. - yes, 6+ as these are schooling fish (live in large numbers) but more than six would be bettter.

So you could have

1 BN
10 Rummy
6 kuli
2 Bolivians

....as a suggestion.

Thanks Zoddyzod, so what you are saying is that I can add those fish to the ones I already have in my tank? I have about 1.5 - 2 inches of sand substrate in my tank.

What about 1 pearl gourami as my centerpiece fish instead of having the dwarf gourami?

sorry no, my suggestion is a full stocking on it's own, so just swap the rummys for the harlequins.

1 BN
10 Harlequins
6 kuli
2 Bolivians
