Stocking My Tank....

i need advice... i have a red devil and it pretty much kills everything or it stresses the hell out of the other fish in the tank.....i tried parrot fish, flowerhorn, pacu, convicts, ..... i really want to put in another fish but i dont know how to do so......i ask the people at the pet shops.. they sau its pretty much trial and error, what do you guys think i should do? i dont want to buy fish and then have to return them or watch them suffer.

p s my tank is 34 gallons the one where the red devil is at... i feed them once a day and the temp i am running on is around 79-82 degree i dont like caves cause the fish tend to just hide there.... but i might reconsider if have to get one

Your tank simply isn't big enough mate. The RD has claimed the tank as his own and won't take to kindly to another fish wanting some of his space, especially when it is in short supply!

if the fish has no where to hide its bound to attack everything, fish need plenty of plants/caves to set up territories.

Just looked it up, minimum is 55g, preferably 75-90. No wonder it kills everything.

Tank change or stock change time, it'll have to be one or the other!

Thought it may have been, but knowing nothing about these fish thought i'd cover myself

These can reach a good 12" and are an exceptionally chunky fish! I guess good tank mates would be Oscars or similar but this would require a tank somewhere in the region of 100 gallons.

I think you should just be happy with him on his own, and start saving for a bigger tank

i have a bigger tank 70 gal.. but its occupied w diff fish......this tank is in my room the 70 is in my living room......so i guess red devil will live alone.... thanks!!!

Your tank is still not big enough for him though even if he is alone...
