My tank is almost cycled and I'm trying to decide what I want to put in it. I have live plants in it and a gravel substrate. Any suggestions or comments to my list would be helpful.

The tank is a standard 55 gallon tank.

2 dwarf frogs (not clawed)
2-3 siamese algae eater
2-4 dwarf gourami (possibly a few different types)
1-2 dalmation or black molly
1 - small clown loach
1 - red tail shark?

some different tetras

Would rainbow or neon tetras be ok in here?

Just a couple of thoughts:

2-4 dwarf gouramis- would work at a ratio of 1 male+ 2-3 females- as long as you don't mind that the females are not so colourful; male gouramis are territorial, so you would risk aggression otherwise

1 clown loach- they are schooling fish, so you'd want at least 3, a single clown loach would be unhappy

red tail shark- might it go for the frogs? I really don't know

also a single molly, or a pair, might not be the ideal ratio (though 2 females might work)- if you have mixed genders you need 2-3 females per male (to prevent sexual exhaustion), if you have males only you need a larger group (to spread aggression); but females only could work

Thanks for the replies so far. I'll be sure to get the correct ratio of males to females.

I only wanted 1 clown loach because of how big they can grow. I guess I'll scratch that off. What would be a good replacement for it?

i would miss off the siamese algae eater, unless you get a specific ID, if you get the wrong one it'll end badly, often mistaken for a chinese algae eater, or false siamese algae eater.

if you want something to eat algae look into otos or small plecs (be aware of how much they poop!)
