OK,

Having spent a fair amount of time studying compatability of fish etc etc. I think i have a definitive wish list. Is all that i am asking from you, the experts, is have i made any stupid mistakes in my selection?? The list is as follows:-

6 Neon Tetra (Already have these)
6 Green tiger barbs
1 Ruby shark (Centre Piece)
2 Bristlenose Plec.

Opinions please as i am going to start stocking this coming weekend.
Kind Regards

AndyB

I admit I am not very knowledgable about stocking but this does sound over-stocked to me.
60 litres is about 15 gallons and I think tiger barbs, ruby sharks and bristlenose plecs need larger tanks than this. (minimum tank size for each of these species is around 20-30 gallons)

someone please correct me if I'm wrong

The ruby shark and tiger barbs need atleast 30 gallons IMO, if they are cramped into such a small place you'll not only have higher ammonia levels but you might also fun into aggression issues.

If you want a nice centrepiece fish, i would go for a male dwarf gourami or a couple of honey gourami's.

dont know much about the barbs and shark but plec's can sometimes fight so i've read so maybe one of them? i have one in my 63litre and got it from baby so its good to watcjh it grow!

That whole selection needs scrapping I'm afraid. Your tank is just not big enough for the bristlenoses, shark or Tigers. You will only end up with problems if you go for them. The Neons would be fine but tend to die off one by one in new tanks. They do better once the tank has stabilised for a few months.

You really need to be looking at small <2" community species in a small tank like that. Pygmy Cories would be a far better option as a bottom dweller but you would need at least 5. In terms of mid dwelling species there are many great options for a small tank that don't grow over 1.5". Black Phantom, Glowlight and Cardinal tetras are all relatively hardy. Harlequin rasboras are my personal favourite. In terms of livebearers endlers are cracking little fish as are all the various coloured platies. Be aware that with livebearers you probably want to go for 5+ males if you don't want loads of fry. For a centrepiece fish you can look to maybe a swordtail, honey gourami or sparkling gouramis as good options.

Good Luck
