Stocking Issues...

Good morning all, hope this quick thread finds you all well.

So, last week i completed my Qualifying Week on my 110L, sand substrate tropical tank. Purchased 10 X-ray (Goldfinch) Tetra and 7 Red Cheery Shrimp (still juveniles). Every daily water test has returned the results i would like to expect at this stage, so i'm thinking of adding more fish tomorrow (Friday, April 8th).

I have the perfect opportunity to visit my L.F.S and possibly buy another half a dozen community fish..maybe Cherry Barbs, Cardinal tetra, Rummynose Tetra, etc etc....

So, the question, would 7 days be a little too early to add half my second 'batch' of fish? Should i wait another couple of weeks? Or would 7 days be enough before adding any others?

7 days should be fine, watch all readings, of course.. I still recommend you move your cherry barbs to the larger tank and add a few more

So, if i purchase 6 Cherry Barbs tomorrow, also add the other 2 from my small tank that would make 8.. that sound about right for such a fish?

Indeed... ..i've just contacted him at the LFS, he is going to put 6 females aside for me out the back of his shop as the two i have in the small tank are males. Thanks for the usual speedy reply KittyKat, Appreciated.

Shouldn't be a problem..Mrs.Apple has taken my digital camera to London for a few days, but she's back this evening (reminds himself to text her and have it charged in her hotel room before she comes home!).

Anyway, i've been putting alot of thought into my stocking issues, i shall still be going with 4/6 Cherry Barbs this afternoon, but further stocking ideas have changed somewhat..but i'll get onto that another day

Morning all, and what a fine looking morning it is too!

Right, 5 (juvenile) female Cherry Barbs went into the 110L tank yesterday, they were joined by both aduly males from the small tank...and what a fantastic combination they turned out to be! The males seem to have taken the females 'under their wing' so to speak, they are followed round the tank by a little group of females where ever they go.. fantastic to watch..plus, i put half tablet onto the side of the tank last night (i checked with the lad at the LFS, they hadn't been fed yesterday, which is what i asked him to do on the phone) and once the Xray Tetra had their feed (gutsy little buggers they turned out to be!) the male Cherry Barbs seemed to clear a path for the females to eat, only eating themselves once the females had their share..!

After watching them all for a couple of hours yesterday, they all seem to have their little personalities and quirks, fantastic to watch, especially when they rummage around in the sand!
Anyway, all results going the way they should..waiting now for a fully charged camera battery before i put some pics up!
