I do not want any harm to come to your discus, but it could pass away tomorrow, all I am saying is 3 weeks is not enough time to make a statement like the fish is not difficult to keep.

I myself want discus very soon, and all my research is saying it is not easy.

Well I did research discus for months before even purchasing my tank, so I do know quite a bit about them. And I am not telling him to disregard books, just saying that actions speak louder than words.

LALALALA I'm not listening! Anyway like I said, I never claimed to be an expert, although I probably am seeing as how I have read countless books on discus keeping. And obviously they are not as hard as REALLY sensitive fish such as cardinal tetras that die on the second day, my discus is living proof of that. And BTW I said IME. This stands for In My Experience. it does not mean that everyone who decides to keep discus will have the same results, just that this is what I have experienced in keeping my discus.

Also I have read from several sources, which I cannot be bothered to list now, that discus are not as difficult as they are made out to be. A lot of false rumours and legends get started by means of one person having a certain type of experience, and then telling it to someone else, and so on. (eg the neon tetra being a relatively hardy fish... give me a break) So basically people are just parroting back stuff they heard, without having actually any concrete experience on the subject whatsoever.

i did my reserch after disagreeing with him to make sure i was right but i was wrong, and now i am just telling other people that i am backing up on dav's experience from my reserch

I did not say you said you were expert. But someone came for advice and you gave them advice on discus, that was against the grain. You should let people know you only have 3 weeks experience with 1 discus!

U guys are trying to gang up on me I dont mind I have my opinions that what forum is for.
