heyy,

I have a 35 gallon high and i have 6 head and tail light tetras and 6 congo tetras. I was wondering what else i could put in it because i looks a bit empty. Any advice will be helpful

thanks in advanced

A school of hatchet fish for the surface and a group of cories for the bottom, would give you fish at all levels and lots of activity in the tank. If your looking just to add a couple of larger fish, a pair of kribensis or apistogramas would add a different element to the tank. I could go on. If there is something you were considering but not quite sure about ask away.

What are the dimensions of the tank? What décor? What parameters? What substrate?

I would probably recommend that you increase your school sizes to 10 per species because the fish would benefit from it.

thanks for the replies guys, i also forgot to add my BN pleco, so i have a fish that is around the bottom of the tank. i was thinking a gourami of some sort for my center piece fish, maybe a pair ( i heard they like living like that better ). i have a lot of plants with a gravel substrate ( the plants get plant food because there is no dirt ). I also was thinking some guppies for color but i am not to sure about them.

I'm not sure how anyone could recommend a fish without knowing the water parameters and the dimensions (size) of the tank… after all, large fish cannot go into short tanks and hard water fish should would be harmed by soft water, etc, so it would be really useful if you could provide those.

The dimensions would be especially important for gouramis, because they are territorial.

Guppies would probably not work as they should have hard water and are prime targets for nipping tetras and gouramis looking for someone to harass.

thanks for that,
my tank is 60cm high, 60cm long, and 34cm deep, it has 0 ammonina, nitrite and nitrate with a Ph of 6.8

would keyhole cochlids be fine in my tank because i love the look of them and apparently they are not very agressive and are also shy. Can they be kept by them selves or do i have to get two thanks.

Keyholes and Congo tetras grow too large for a tank that short, eventually, this will be visible in their health. I recommend that you replace the 6 Congo tetras with 6 head and tail light tetras. My experience with keyholes is that they are social, like most other cichlids.

Here are my recommendations for gouramis which are suitable for a 60 cm long tank (note, you can probably keep only one species, as individuals or pairs, depending on their temperament): http://aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/species-for-a-60-litre-aquariums/#asia-surface

The problem with tall tanks is that they do not allow for larger fish and they do not *really* give you any more stocking space. I recommend that you treat your tank as if it was any other 60*34 cm footprint tank, not by volume.
